Plastering Prices: what to expect
Every job is quoted individually after seeing it, in person or on a video call. This page explains what moves the price so the quote makes sense when it arrives.
What changes the price
- Condition of the existing surface: sound plaster that only needs a skim costs less than walls that need hacking off, boarding or a float coat first.
- Access and height: stairwells, high ceilings and rooms that need towers or scaffold take longer.
- Period and listed buildings: lime systems use different materials and cure more slowly, so they cost more than a gypsum skim.
- Specialist finishes: Tadelakt, microcement and polished plaster are applied in several hand-worked coats over several days and sit at the higher end.
- Preparation and protection: furniture, flooring and fittings are protected as standard; empty rooms are quicker.
- How many rooms: a whole-house re-skim is cheaper per room than one room on its own.
